The script, which airs on Hulu on June 29, focuses on a controversial real case: Conrad, an 18-year-old who was found poisoned in a car by carbon monoxide in 2014.
Because he suffered from depression and attempted suicide/suicide, the police initially judged it to be suicide. Later investigations found that his 17-year-old girlfriend Carter repeatedly encouraged him to kill himself by texting.
The judge convicted Carter of manslaughter after investigating numerous text messages, emails, and phone calls between the pair and learning that both were prescribed psychiatric drugs.
