Recently, according to media reports, American singer and model Ciara Princess Harris will join the musical version of “The Color Purple”.
She will play the role of Celie’s sister Nettie. The character was played by Akosua Busia in the original film.
The original “The Color Purple” was directed by Steven Spielberg and starred Whoopi Goldberg, Akosua Busia, Danny Glover and more.
The film tells the story of black Georgia sisters Celie and Nettie who have been separated since childhood and finally reunited after many years.
After the film was released, it received rave reviews. The story no longer had a strong dramatic conflict throughout Spielberg’s films, but more of a stream of consciousness life.
It is reported that the new version of “The Color Purple” will be adapted from the musical of the same name, which has little to do with the original film.
According to the plan, the film will be released in North America on December 20, 2023, which will be a typical awards season.
