Paramount officials have high hopes for the “Sonic the Hedgehog” franchise, with producer Tobby Ascher recently saying it was primarily about creating a “Sonic Cinematic Universe.”
Asher, who worked on the 2020 original “Sonic the Hedgehog,” recently talked about their vision for the “Sonic” IP: “We’re creating a Sonic movie world, so we knew we’d be adding new characters like Tails. and Knuckles; they’re new characters for the movie, but loved by gamers from all over the world.”
Earlier this year, Paramount announced that it would be collaborating with Sega on a third “Sonic the Hedgehog” film, slated for release in 2023.
In addition to the new feature film, Paramount has also said it will launch a spin-off live-action series.
No official announcement has been made about the third “Sonic the Hedgehog” film, but Paramount and Sega confirmed that Paramount+ will focus on the spin-off series “Knuckles,” with Idris Elba continuing to voice.
The 2020 release of “Sonic the Hedgehog” is the highest-grossing video game movie in U.S. history, and the sequel “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” will be officially released on April 8, and the original cast will return.
And Sega’s next “Sonic” new work “Sonic Frontiers” has now announced the login platform: PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Switch, the release date has not yet been announced.
