Today, the film “Memoria” directed by Cannes Palme d’Or winner Apichatpong Weerasethakul and starring Oscar’s best actress Tilda Swinton revealed its first trailer.
The trailer starts with a loud noise “like coming from the center of the earth”, creating a mysterious and thick aesthetic atmosphere.
“Memoria” will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on July 15th, French time, to participate in the Palme d’Or.
In the trailer, the heroine played by Tilda Swinton follows the sound of the loud noise that continues to haunt her.
On the streets of Bogotá, in the jungles of South America, beside the rivers, she tried to figure out the truth.
“Memoria” is the first feature film that Apichatpong left Thailand and shot in Colombia.
“Memoria” tells the story of a woman who is haunted by a mysterious loud noise every night, has hallucinations, and walks in South American cities and jungles, trying to find the root of the hallucinations, searching for and sharing memories.

Director Apichatpong is known as the new generation of Asian film masters, and his works have been nominated for many major international film festivals such as Cannes and Venice.
“Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives” won the Palme d’Or at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival, and “Tropical Malady” won the Jury Award at the 57th Cannes Film Festival.
In addition, “Memoria” is starring by Oscar Award and Venice Film Festival Lifetime Achievement Award winner Tilda Swinton, which is also her first feature film with director Apichatban.

“Memoria” is jointly produced by Xihe Xinghui Pictures and iQiyi, and is co-produced by Jia Zhangke as the director.
