During this time, Johnny Depp, who has attracted the attention of fans around the world, sued his ex-wife Amber Heard for defamation and announced the verdict: Depp won the case.
The jury affirmed Depp’s three claims and awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages + $5 million in punitive damages, totaling $15 million. Two of Heard’s three counterclaims were denied and one was affirmed for $2 million in compensatory damages.
But it is unclear whether Heard’s party will seek an appeal or other forms of legal compensation.

Depp is suing the other party over an article Heard had previously published on the “Washington Post” in which Heard did not name Depp, but wrote that he had become a “representative for victims of domestic violence.”
Depp claims the claim defamed him and damaged his reputation and acting career, and seeks a $50 million claim. Heard countersued for $100 million, alleging Depp slandered her by saying her allegations were a “hoax”.
The trial opened in mid-April this year and lasted for about a month and a half. Depp and Heard and their legal teams confronted each other, and the two also testified in person one after another.
Heard said Depp had repeatedly used physical and verbal violence against him, and Depp denied all allegations of domestic violence.
