The Northern America film market continued to be on fire last weekend, with the big picture about 30 percent higher than ‘Men in Black International’ for the same period in 2019. ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ reigned supreme with $58.6 million, down 60 percent from the ring.
Pixar Animation’s ‘Lightyear’ ranked second with $51 million, Tom Cruise’s ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ ranked third with $44 million, and Northern America’s cumulative box office of $460 million topped the annual crown.
‘Lightyear’ is the first Pixar Animation movie to be released in theaters after ‘Onward’ in 2020, and the previous ‘Soul’, ‘Luca’ and ‘Turning Red’ were all straight up streaming.
