The nominations for the 2022 Emmy Awards were recently released, with ‘Succession’, ‘Better Call Saul’, ‘Squid Game’, ‘Euphoria’, ‘Stranger Things’ and others competing in the drama category, and ‘Hacks’, ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ Ted Lasso’ and others are competing in the comedy category.

‘Succession’ Season 3 got 25 nominations to lead all series, ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 2 got 20 nominations to rank second, and the Emmy Awards record for drama nominations belonged to ‘Game of Thrones’, which received 32 nominations in 2019.

The 14 acting award nominations also broke a single Emmy record.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s HBO and HBO Max combined picked up 140 nominations (HBO alone got 108 nominations), well above Netflix’s 105.

Chadwick Boseman was nominated for an Emmy Award for Best Voice Actor for his portrayal of Black Panther in the Marvel series ‘What If…? This is his first Emmy nomination, having previously been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’.

‘Squid Game’ became the first non-English drama series ever to be nominated for a major award in the Best Drama Series category at the Emmy Awards. The series received a total of 14 nominations at this year’s Emmys, including Best Drama Series, lead actor Jung-jae Lee, supporting actress Hoyeon Jung, supporting actors Hae-soo Park and Yeong-su Oh, and guest star Yoo-mi Lee.

Euphoria’ was nominated for Best Drama Series in the Emmy category, and Zendaya, who produced the series, became the youngest female producer to be nominated in Emmy history (awards like “Best Drama Series” are given to producers).

Previously, Zendaya had become the youngest Emmy Drama Queen at the age of 24 with the show, and she continues to be a finalist for the award this year.

This year, Zendaya won four individual mentions, including Best Original Music and Lyrics for her song “I’m Tired” and “Elliot’s Song,” which she co-wrote.
