Although ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ is now approaching $500 million at the worldwide box office, its performance is still not encouraging, according to media reports.
It fell 68 percent in its first two weeks of release, the same drop as ‘Black Widow’ and ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’.
In terms of audience and critic reviews, the movie has a high degree of polarization in terms of word-of-mouth.
‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ is also out of the Certified Fresh logo at Rotten Tomatoes (68% freshness, 79% popcorn index).
It remains to be seen whether Marvel will continue to produce the series as audience word-of-mouth lags behind standard indicators. Even if the studio chooses to continue filming, Taika Waititi will not necessarily continue to return to direct.
