Father-son team Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell join Legendary and Apple TV+ in a live-action series focusing on Godzilla and the Titanic Beast, with a cast that includes Anna Sawai (‘Pachinko’ ‘F9: The Fast Saga’), Ren Watabe Kiersey Clemons (‘Dope’), Joe Tippett (‘Mare of Easttown’), and Elisa Lasowski (‘Versailles’ ‘Game of Thrones’).
The show, which has yet to be titled, is set in “the fierce battle between Godzilla and the titanic beasts that razed San Francisco to a shocking new reality where monsters are real, exploring a family’s journey to uncover their buried secrets and the legacy that ties them to a secret organization called the Emperor.
Matt Shakman (‘WandaVision’ ‘Game of Thrones’ ‘Fargo’) will direct the first two episodes and executive produce, with Chris Black (‘Invincible’ ‘Star Trek: Enterprise’) as the operator and comic book writer Matt Fraction (‘Hawkeye’) and others are involved in the production.
Legendary Pictures’ monster universe has released four movies: 2014 ‘Shin Godzilla’, 2017 ‘Kong: Skull Island’, 2019 ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’, 2021 ‘ Godzilla vs Kong’, with a cumulative global box office of nearly $2 billion.
