Recently, Amber Heard filed a notice of intent to appeal the defamation case in the Fairfax County, Virginia court.
And then on Friday, Johnny Depp also filed a notice of appeal to the court against the adverse ruling, seeking to overturn a defamation won by his ex-wife Amber in the trial, with Depp’s team saying the appeal hopes to remove the $2 million awarded to Heard as a result of the trial.
In response to Amber Heard’s appeal, a spokesperson for Depp’s side had said, in response, that the jury made a clear, unanimous judgment after hearing the evidence and “we maintain our confidence in the case and believe the verdict will stand.
The verdict in the case of Johnny Depp against his ex-wife Amber Heard for defamation was announced in Depp’s favor, awarding Depp $10 million in compensatory damages + $5 million in punitive damages, for a total of $15 million; Heard’s countersuit was denied in two of its three claims and affirmed in one, for $2 million in compensatory damages.
