The long-awaited Charlie Hunnam! Apple TV+ new series ‘Shantaram’ released its first stills and announced that it will start airing on October 14 this year.
Shantaram’ is adapted from Gregory David Roberts’ famous novel of the same name, which tells the exciting criminal history of an Australian man, his life in the jungle: Lin Ford, once an idealist, has since robbed banks, taken drugs and done nothing but evil.
He escaped from a felony prison and made his way to Mumbai, India, where this wanted man is a great recluse. The book tells the story of his complicated life and the city of Mumbai in all its diversity, love and hate.
The author of the novel Roberts’ own experience is complex, and Ford’s story has his shadow, but ‘Shantaram’ is a fictional novel, not a work of reality.
Written and run by Steve Lightfoot (‘The Punisher’), the series is described as “Lin Ford (Hunnam) struggles alone in a strange city, escaping the troubles of his past and falling in love with a mysterious, attractive woman named Karla (Antonia Desplat (played by Antonia Desplat), for which Lin must choose between love and freedom, and face the consequences of that choice.”
