Producers of the James Bond series are looking for a younger “007” actor in his mid-30s, according to recent media reports. According to Twitter blogger Ross King, the producer has ruled out the 42-year-old British actor Sam Heughan.
Ross King said on the Lorranie show, “The latest rumor, certain details are true. Namely, that basically the Bond producers are looking for a younger Bond, possibly in his 30s.”
The last 007, Daniel Craig, was 38 when he first starred as James Bond, and it’s understandable that the producers wanted a younger actor in order to allow a new actor to play Bond for the next 15 years.
Ross: “At the end of the day, they wanted this guy to be in three James Bond movies. For the series, they wanted this person to carry the series like Craig did.”
In addition to age, they also have a new requirement for the new 007 – height. ross broke the news: “The other thing they said was that they had to be taller than 5 feet 10 inches (1.78 meters).”
Craig himself is 5 feet 10 inches tall, while most of the other Bonds are over 6 feet tall.
Once these two criteria came out, many of the previous popular candidates were ban, including Tom Hardy (still far from 6 feet tall) and the 49-year-old actor Idris Elba did not meet the casting requirements for the new version of 007.
Henry “Big Super” Cavill may not fit either, as he is now 39 years old.
