“Shrek”: Not a prince and princess can still be happy

Twenty years later, it is still the most popular “adult” animation. “Shrek”: Not a prince and princess can still be happy.

20 years later, “Shrek” is still one of the most popular animated feature films in history.

Shrek, the protagonist of “Shrek”, is not only Prince Charming, he is not even a human being, but a chubby green “monster”.

Not only is he ugly, he is not gentle at all, he does not like to be clean, and even his personality is a bit withdrawn.

And the princess? At first glance, it looks like a beautiful face and a perfect body. However, the hiccups do not conceal, and they are invincible, and the true appearance after sunset is even more astounding.

In “Shrek”, there are also silly donkeys, love-brained fire dragons, flattering mirrors, and countless fairy-tale characters who look familiar, but after a closer look, they find that it is not the case.

“Shrek” relies on the subversion of traditional fairy tale characters, the brave breaking of classic fairy tale routines, and the bold mockery of the “Disney” model.

“Shrek” relies on the protagonists who are not handsome men and women, and won the 2002 Oscar for “Best Animated Feature Film” Golden Man (defeated “Monsters, Inc.”).

This is the first time this award has been set in the history of the Academy Awards, and this film has also become the first winner.

After “Shrek” was released in the United States in 2001, with a budget of $60 million, it earned $484 million in box office worldwide.

The follow-up episodes of this series continue, including 2004’s “Shrek 2”, 2007’s “Shrek 3”, 2010’s “Shrek 4”, and a side story “Puss in Boots”, as well as a musical series.

In 1994, Jeffrey Katzenberg fell out with his former friend, then Disney CEO Michael Eisner, and he said goodbye to his identity as the chairman of Disney Pictures.

Steven Spielberg just relied on the previous year’s “Jurassic Park” and “Schindler’s List”, once again the word-of-mouth box office double perfect score, boarded the top of Hollywood.

Katzenberg, Spielberg, and the most famous gay in Hollywood, David Geffen, jointly established DreamWorks Studio (DreamWorks SKG, SKG is the initials of the three founders) this year.

And “Shrek” is the first bright jewel presented by DreamWorks.

Before “Shrek”, DreamWorks had produced animations such as “Antz”, “The Prince of Egypt” and “Chicken Run”.

However, “Shrek” established DreamWorks Animation’s position in the animation industry that year, and can stand side by side with Pixar from now on.

In 2004, the animation department of DreamWorks was spun off and an independent DreamWorks animation company was established.

In 2010, the role of “Shrek” won his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

From 2006 to 2012, DreamWorks Animation’s films were distributed by Paramount, and from 2013 to 2015, they were distributed by 20th Century Fox (Oriental DreamWorks in the Mainland).

In 2018, NBC Universal acquired DreamWorks Animation. Since then, DreamWorks animations have been distributed by Universal, and “Shrek” has officially joined Universal Family.
