The famous physicist Hawking once said: “The development of artificial intelligence may mean the end of mankind”.
And there are a lot of movies and TV dramas about this,
For example, after the Skynet consciousness of “The Terminator” awakened, it slaughtered all human beings.
For example, in “The Matrix”, most human beings are controlled by machines, their bodies are used as “energy batteries”, and their minds live in a virtual world.
Today, I want to bring you an alternative artificial intelligence movie – “Bigbug”.
The director of the film is the famous French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet, whose classic comedy “Amelie” can be said to be a household name.
And recently, this sci-fi comedy has also opened its mind: AI robots rebel.
So let’s start the feature film.
01The story background of “Bigbug”
The story is set in 2046, when the living standard of mankind has reached the technological ceiling.
Home appliances are basically high-intelligence AI, and they will perform their respective roles in life.
The housekeeper-type robot Monique will take care of everything for the host. She will prepare breakfast for the host, and she can also prepare snacks for the host to entertain guests.
The cleaning robot comes out to clean up immediately when there are stains on the ground.
Soak first, then pump and wash, and finally don’t forget to disinfect.
In addition to these labor-free robots, there are companion robots.
For example, X loves robots.
He will fill the emptiness of the master, love everything about the master, and always be loyal to the master.
Everyone is enjoying the ease and pleasure brought by robots.
On this day, however, a traffic jam caused by autonomous cars changed everything.
A robot uprising erupts in the world, and videos of robots performing abuse of humans are shown on TV.
Suddenly there was an ominous foreboding.
In order to protect the owner, the robots in Alice’s house blocked all doors and windows in the house without authorization.
They don’t listen to their masters at all.
02 The plot of “Bigbug”
Humans locked up by robots began to think of various ways to break out.
The first was to smash the door, but because the glass was too strong, they failed.
Later, the neighbor who was inadvertently locked up at Alice’s house suddenly remembered that he could ask his dog to help.
So they used laser red lines to entice dogs to pull the emergency switch with their mouths.
The result was unexpected, the quality of the switch was too poor, and the dog directly pulled the pull ring off.
At this time, Victor, who was also locked in Alice’s house, wanted to control his flying car and crashed into it.
But because the dog owner was also in the house, the dog tried desperately to stay in front of the car to protect the owner.
The speeding car also overturned on its own to avoid the dog.
At the same time, the intelligent robots in Alice’s house began to change slowly.
They longed to become human and began to learn a series of human language actions.
When Alice and Max are about to do some adult runs, the housekeeper Monique pops up and says “me too”.
Just when everyone was at a loss, Victor came up with another coup.
If there are more serious hazards in the house, the robot will definitely open the door out of the desire to protect the owner.
They wanted to create a small fire and set off an alarm at the scene.
So, the next-door neighbor aunt let her X love robot ignite the waste paper and set off the alarm.
But although the alarm sounded, the door did not open, and there was a steel robot standing outside the door.
Steel robots force their way into the house and demand a security scan of everyone.
Robots that defied his orders were rebuilt.
He destroyed all of Alice’s books on the grounds of disposing of obsolete human objects.
He also threatened Alice and others to imitate animal performances like a circus performance…
03 The overall style of “Bigbug” is bold, from the setting to the character modeling is full of romantic French sentiment.
The nearly two-hour plot of the film was completed in the same room, with absurd performances and humorous lines, as well as a sense of sight in a sitcom.
However, in the plot setting, there is a huge contrast between robots who want to become humans and robots who want to rule humans, which is still a bit cliché.
Similar to the man-machine battle in the first story of the second season of “Love, Death & Robots”.
In comparison, the performance of humans and robots swapping identities is more eye-catching and interesting.
Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s French humour has always liked to echo humanity while remaining entertaining.
For example, Victor, the lover that Alice brought home, Victor’s love for Alice was perfunctory from the very beginning, he just wanted to have sex with Alice.
When Alice was moved by the confession of the neighbor’s X love robot, Victor said “it’s all programmed”.
When Alice wanted to show Victor the last page of her emotional note, Victor finally couldn’t take it anymore.
“Calligraphy, freshly mowed lawns, old books, fans, embroidery, knitting… all of them are what I hate the most, why is it so complicated? I just want to go to bed”
Overall, although it is not a very good work by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, it can be regarded as a relatively well-completed sci-fi sketch, with absurd and exaggerated jokes and the scale of French specialties.
It is recommended that you “secretly” read it alone.
Friends who like this kind of French humor, you can start!
