‘Evil Under the Sun’ Review: It’s a crime flick, a landscape flick and a vintage dress flick

Recently, the new version of “Death on the Nile” was released in major theaters, setting off a wave of comparison between the new version and the old version. I myself prefer the old version because it is closer to the original and the characters and plot are more reasonable.

Especially the old detective Poirot, cute, humorous and clever.

Today, I recommend to netizens a British suspense crime film “Evil Under the Sun”, which was also adapted from Agatha Christie’s novel of the same name and released in 1982.

The main plot of “Evil Under the Sun” is: a glamorous female star goes on vacation to a small island with her husband and stepdaughter, and the tourists on the island will more or less have an interest in her.

She really likes the feeling of being pursued by men, so she flirts with the handsome young Patrick, regardless of other people’s feelings.

Unexpectedly, one day, she was killed while sunbathing on a beach, and the big diamond she was wearing disappeared.

Detective Poirot conducted meticulous investigations and inquiries, and when the murderer revealed flaws, he collected evidence quietly, and finally gave the criminal a fatal blow.

The great thing about this movie is that it is perfect in terms of plot, actors, scenes, costumes, editing, etc., and it is unforgettable.

In terms of actors, this film brings together many famous and excellent actors, such as Peter Ustinov, Jane Birkin, James Mason, Nicholas Clay, Roddy McDowall, Sylvia Miles and so on.

Among them, Peter Ustinov, who plays the detective Poirot, perfectly expresses this lovely character full of humor and wisdom in terms of body shape, dress and demeanor. He is like a character straight out of the original book.

“Evil Under the Sun” is very powerful in terms of setting and graphics.

In recent years, some crime and suspense movies like to use dark and gloomy images to express the theme and create that special atmosphere.

But the scene in this movie is very bright, the scenery is beautiful, the characters are gorgeous, and it makes people feel very comfortable to watch.

Seems like “Evil Under the Sun” is a scenery film, not a crime one.

But it is in such an environment that a murder occurs, and the impact and contrast are even more impressive.

Not to mention clothing. Every costume and decoration of the actors is very suitable for the era and popular elements at that time.

Watching them wear very retro clothes and sing songs that were popular at the time, it makes you feel like, oh, the fashion that was popular with moms and dads in the past has a source.

“Evil Under the Sun” is so flavorful and sensual, it’s a vintage clothing blockbuster.

The clothes are beautiful, aren’t they?

In short, “Evil Under the Sun” is very classic, close to the original, and the ending is unexpected.

After watching “Evil Under the Sun”, you will not only enjoy the beautiful scenery, beautiful retro clothes, but also “fall in love” with the detective Poirot.
