This movie is full of savage, sad, funny and disturbing factors. “Riders of Justice” is not so much a revenge movie as it is a movie about revenge.
Until you watch the end of this amazing feature film by screenwriter/director Anders Thomas Jensen (“Efter brylluppet”, “Red Road”) and look back at every story that happened to you, you will be able to participate in it.
“Riders of Justice” began a few days before Christmas in Estonia. A girl and her grandfather were walking on a street decorated with a festive atmosphere.
The girl saw a red bicycle sold by a street vendor, but she wanted a blue bicycle.
The hawker was a member of a criminal gang and called a colleague, who stole a blue bicycle belonging to Mathilde.
This resulted in Mathilde’s mother Emma (Anne Birgitte Lind) having to pick her up at the train station.
As a result, their car cannot be started, so they need to take a commuter train home.
A statistics and probability expert named Otto gave up her seat to the girl’s mother.
Soon after, a freight train crashed into a commuter train and several passengers were killed.
The passengers killed included Mathilde’s mother and a tattooed, bald and ugly guy who was supposed to testify against a terrible gang.
Otto saw another person getting off the train before the accident, and strangely throwing a full drink and a barely finished sandwich into the trash on his way out.
He was convinced that the accident was an assassination and that the other victims were innocent victims.
As it happens, Mathilde’s father is a petrified soldier named Markus.
If you see this and think that “Riders of Justice” is no different from other revenge movies, then you are wrong.
As the plot develops, you will soon discover that this is not a revenge movie in the ordinary sense.
On the one hand, Jensen made Otto the beginning of the story, and made Otto the key second clue.
Jensen also formed a team with a fellow probability expert named Lennart (Lars Brygmann) and a bruised and emotional computer hacker. The hacker’s name is Emmenthaler.
The creation and acting skills of the three characters are so skilled that they form a comedy trio.
Just like Mathilde, Markus, and others from the Jensen viewfinder, Otto, Lennart, and Emmenthaler are all given interesting background stories.
These stories give the script a different interpretation of fate, opportunity, and justice.
The priest said, “We often give them a divine character. However, when lightning strikes, when tragedies become reality, it is difficult for us to prevent it from happening, so we call it a coincidence.”
Some tragedies are always unavoidable, but after the tragedy, we cannot blame others. This movie gives a good answer.
In short, “Riders of Justice” is an interesting and intelligent revenge movie. It is different from many revenge movies. It has many elements and is worth watching.
