Gal Gadot’s self-produced ‘Cleopatra’ is stuck in a “no love, no love” rut?
There are media reports, rumors that the two major film makers – Universal is “circling the wagons”, Paramount “uncertain schedule”; so far the film shooting plan no progress.
According to reports, the team behind ‘Cleopatra’ has been formed: Gal Gadot, who owns Pilot Productions, is one of the lead actresses and producers, Patty Jenkins, who worked with her on ‘Wonder Woman,’ is an executive producer, Laeta Kalogridis, who starred in Leonardo DiCaprio’s ‘Shutter Island’ in 2010, wrote the screenplay, and Kari Skogland, who directed the ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ episode, is directing. ‘ written by Laeta Kalogridis and directed by Kari Skogland of ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’.
But the problem is with the film makers.
According to reports, the first intention to shoot ‘Cleopatra’ Universal has been “circling the wagons”, the team has not yet signed a contract to work with Paramount instead, but Paramount did not give the production schedule, leaving the film in a stalemate.
Not mentioned in the report, but rumors ‘Cleopatra’ difficult to produce one of the main reasons may be the cost: 1963 Elizabeth Taylor starring in ‘Cleopatra’ cost $ 44 million, in 2017 converted to about $ 352 million, had made the then film distributor Volkswagen almost bankrupt.
The previous experience has made the film makers hold back on this sure mega-budget historical women’s movie.
According to the IMDb website, Gal Gadot is currently filming a live-action version of ‘Snow White’ and co-starring with ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ actor Jamie Dornan in the spy thriller “Heart of Stone”.
In preparation, there are “Irena Sendler”, which tells the story of Polish nurses and social workers in World War II, and Hedy Lamarr, the first Hollywood porn star to do nude scenes in a biographical mini-film.
Neither ‘Cleopatra’ nor ‘Wonder Woman 3’ has a production schedule.
Elizabeth Taylor, who was 31 years old when she was dying at the end of ‘Cleopatra’, said: “I used to live in someone else’s dream, now I finally have my own dream, a dream that will never wake up…”
Hopefully, Gal Gadot, who turned 37 on April 30, will soon be able to fulfill his dream of playing ‘Cleopatra’.
