According to “The Hollywood Reporter”, Peter Jackson, who directed “The Lord of the Rings” film series, mentioned on the podcast that Amazon producers had invited Jackson to helm “The Lord of the Rings” episodes, and said the script would be given to him to read. But the script has not been delivered to Jackson’s hands.
This may be due to:
One, the Amazon executive who suggested Jackson join at the time, left in 2019.
Second, the administrator of the estate of the original author Tolkien objected to Jackson’s inclusion.
Tolkien’s son has criticized Jackson’s film for taking his father’s book and turning it into an action film for young people who lack a “sense of beauty and seriousness.
However, Jackson said he would still go see ‘The Lord of the Rings’ episodes to show his support.
