According to media sources, an American man watched “Spider-Man: No Way Home” 292 times, breaking the Guinness World Record for “Most Viewed Same Movie”.
Ramiro Alanis, originally from Florida, watched “Spider-Man: No Way Home” 292 times from its premiere on December 16, 2021, to March 15, 2022.
Keep in mind that this is quite a long movie, totaling up to 720 hours. This is actually the second time that Alanis has set this record.
Previously, he set a record for watching “Avengers: Endgame” 191 times in 2019.
Last year, France’s Arnold Klein watched “Kaamelott: First Instalment” 204 times, breaking Alanis’ record.
With Spider-Man’s latest big-screen adventure, Alanis is determined to restore his record.
He set the record again in memory of his grandmother, Juni, who was her grandson’s “number one supporter”.
His grandmother died in 2019, before Alanis officially set the world record for 191 “Avengers: Endgame” viewings.
Setting the world record again means watching the film for three months in a row until it stops showing, with a maximum of five viewings a day for the first few weeks.
The hardest part, he said, was watching the movie late at night, which he watched so many times during the day that he had a headache.
Each screening counts toward the gross, and the film must be watched from start to finish, right to the end of the credits.
And it had to be “independent of any other activity”, which meant Alanis couldn’t go to the toilet or even look at his phone.
Alanis also had to submit stubs of each movie ticket, as well as a statement from the theater attendant for each viewing, to certify that Alanis did not nap or rest from start to finish.
During the final screening, Alanis said he had been reciting his lines word for word, and he estimates he spent about $3,400 on the movie tickets.
He noted that after watching the film nearly 300 times, his favorite part was “Andrew Garfield and his road to redemption.”
The Marvel fan also cautioned anyone else trying to break the record. “If anyone wants to break my record again, I hope they think twice before trying,” he said.
