The new Pixar animated film ‘Lightyear’ has a scene of a female astronaut Alisha and her wife kissing, so the film has been banned in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and other West Asian countries.
Star Chris Evans spoke with ‘Variety’ to express his thoughts on the scene: “I’ve been asked that question many times, and I think the scene is great, it’s wonderful, and it makes me happy to watch it. But it’s hard not to feel frustrated that it has to be a topic of discussion.”
Evans hopes that this kind of thing will become the norm rather than a surprising phenomenon, and says he is honored to be part of the process of using film to advance openness.
