According to media reports, Matthew Perry, one of the stars of ‘Friends’, recently told host Diane Sawyer on an interview show about his decades-long battle with the disease of drug addiction.
The sitcom star has suffered a lot, having attended more than 6,000 AA meetings and been in and out of rehab 15 times. But now he is keeping well and feeling very good about himself, and he thanks those around him for always helping him stay on the straight and narrow.
Matthew says that drug addiction was a constant shadow in his life during the filming of ‘Friends,’ but the hit sitcom gave him a way to seek help when he needed it most, and now he wants to share his experience with others.
Matthew sees his next mission as actively helping those who isolate themselves because he believes that it is difficult for patients to overcome illness on their own unless they are surrounded by supportive family and friends.
He said, “Alone, you will definitely lose to the disease.”
