Daniel Radcliffe, star of the ‘Harry Potter’ film series, recently spoke with IndieWire to explain his public opposition to J. K. Rowling’s comments about transgenderism.
“Especially after making the ‘Harry Potter’ movie, I met a lot of young gay and transgender people who identify strongly with the character. So seeing them get hurt because of it, I wanted to let them know that not all creators feel that way.”
Daniel had previously published an open letter in June 2020 making clear his strong support for transgender people. “It’s clear that we need to do more to support trans and non-binary people without invalidating their identities or causing further harm.”
