Nearly 20 years after the release of the “Star Wars” prequel trilogy, Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen are both revisiting the plot in preparation for their return to their roles.
In an interview with “Entertainment Weekly”, Ewan McGregor said he watched all nine “Star Wars” movies to prepare.
And Hayden Christensen saw even more, following Anakin on his extended adventures in the “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars Rebels” animations.
“I watched [Star Wars movies] from beginning to end,” Ewan McGregor told “Entertainment Weekly,” “all nine movies. Just to get back to that world.” The Obi-Wan actor added that it was his Watching the prequel trilogy for the first time since its first release.

“It’s fun to watch the movies we’re in because I haven’t seen them since they came out, not at all. So it’s cool and fun to watch and enjoy them without the noise around them when they first came out.”
Hayden Christensen, who plays Anakin, also watched the films again, but revealed that he knew more about “Star Wars” and that he watched spin-off animations “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars Rebels” in addition to the movies.
“It’s a lot of fun,” Christensen explained. “They’ve made a lot of additions to these characters in these shows. They’ve really explored these relationships further. There’s a lot of interesting stuff to learn in the animation. Going back to this “Star Wars” world, and re-immersing yourself in this ever-evolving and ever-expanding world, it’s been so much fun.”
The “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” animated series ran for seven seasons, many of which featured Anakin in “Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones” and “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith” “Between experiences as a Jedi Knight.
In addition, the animation gave Anakin an apprentice named Ahsoka Tano, who later appeared in “The Mandalorian” and will have her own spin-off show on Disney+.
Hayden Christensen has previously stated that his Darth Vader in the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” episode will be “very strong”, although it’s unclear how big a role he will play in the series.
Additionally, he’s signed on to a standalone episode of Ahsoka Tano, giving the actor even more reason to study Anakin.
