According to media sources, Natalie Portman’s debut on the small screen, starring and producing the new Apple drama ‘Lady in the Lake’ has now been halted due to threats of violence and deliberate blackmail by locals.
Around 4 p.m. Friday, several Baltimore locals repeatedly threatened the producers and tried to blackmail them, saying they would shoot people if the crew didn’t stop filming and that they wouldn’t make trouble if they paid $50,000. The producers refused to pay and decided to stop filming and change locations, with a new shooting schedule currently undetermined.
‘Lady in the Lake’ is directed by Alma Har’el, and the cast also includes Moses Ingram (‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’), Noah Jupe, and Harrer with Derry Ryan working on the script.
Based on the novel of the same name written by Laura Lippman, the story follows an unsolved murder in 1960s Baltimore that prompts housewife & mother Maddie (Natalie Portman) to return to her life as an investigative reporter.
She then meets Cleo (Moses Ingram), a hard-working woman who juggles motherhood with many jobs and who is passionate about advancing the progressive black agenda in Baltimore.
