‘Game of Thrones’ prequel ‘House of the Dragon’ and the main ‘Game of Thrones’ pacing is very different, the original author George Raymond Richard Martin for the prequel episodes of the vision and the show’s “time jump ” (meaning that the next episode suddenly jumps to “years later”), gave his opinion that
“When I was a kid, the show had 39 episodes per season, then it became 22 episodes per season, then ‘The Sopranos’ (also on HBO) had 13 episodes per season, and within a few years, ‘Game of Thrones’ only had 10 episodes per season (the last two seasons were even less than 10).”.
Martin wrote on his blog, “If ‘House of the Dragon’ also had 13 episodes per season, it might have shown the time jumps in the episodes more fully, but the risk is that some viewers will feel that the show is ‘too slow’ and ‘nothing happens’. Nothing is happening'”.
Martin thinks he’s happy now that ‘House of the Dragon’ Season 1 has 10 episodes, and he points out that after all, ‘The Lord of the Rings’ prequel episode ‘The Rings of Power’ Season 1 only has 8 episodes, and Martin’s own new drama ‘Dark Winds’ is also only 6 episodes.
Martin predicted that according to the current pace of ‘House of the Dragon’ episodes, it will probably take another four full seasons of 10 episodes each to tell the story of ‘Dance of the dragons’ from beginning to end.
Although some viewers are slightly dissatisfied with the time jump in ‘House of the Dragon’, Martin thinks the show’s creators have done a good job on this point, “I especially love the young and grown-up versions of Alicent and Rhaenyra, and love the actresses. “
He also said it would have been nice to spend more time on Rhaenyra and Sir Harwyn’s relationship, and Daemon and Laena’s marriage.
‘House of the Dragon’ Season 1 has been updated 8 episodes, the latest episode was evaluated by the media as, “HBO and Amazon spend a lot of money to create dragons and Inferno, are no match for the shocking power of a dying old man on his way to the throne”.
Paddy Considine, who played Viserys I, received high praise from Martin: “He played the king, more powerful, more tragic, more full-bodied than my character, I can’t wait to go back and rewrite this ‘history’. For this episode, Paddy should win an Emmy Award, if he doesn’t win, there’s no reason”.
Paddy also broke the news in a media interview that Martin texted him, “Your Viserys are better than my Viserys”.
