George R.R. Martin: ‘Game of Thrones’ should have at least 10 seasons

The first episode of the ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel series ‘House of the Dragon’ went live on Sunday, and the streaming app crashed for a short time as too many users flocked to HBO Max, a testament to the popularity of the IP.

House of the Dragon’ reportedly drew a total of 9.98 million viewers for its one-day premiere on Sunday on HBO and HBO Max streaming platforms, setting a record for original series premieres on a pay cable channel.

This figure is almost 3.5 times the number of viewers of the premiere of ‘Game of Thrones’ in 2011.

Original author George Raymond Richard Martin told ‘The Wall Street Journal’ when promoting the show that he was more involved in this prequel than ‘Game of Thrones’.

George R.R. Martin also revealed in the interview that he had told HBO that ‘Game of Thrones’ would be made for at least 10 seasons, or even 12-13 seasons, but HBO insisted on 8 seasons to finish.

Thus, the formation of the book has not finished writing the episodes in advance of the embarrassing ending.

“The later seasons of ‘Game of Thrones’ saw very little contribution from me, and I had more influence in the prequel ‘House of the Dragon’ than I did in the first one.”
