Director James Cameron recently spoke to ‘NYTimes’ about ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ and the transformation of Jake and Neytiri from ‘Avatar 1’ to ‘Avatar 2’: 15 years have passed, they have a family and children, and they are more mature, for example, in the first film they would jump from a height regardless of the consequences. For example, in the first film, they would jump from a height at all costs, but now they have to consider other things besides their own safety.
Cameron lamented: “I look at those magnificent blockbusters – I look at what you’re talking about, Marvel and DC – where the characters, no matter how old they are, act like college kids. They have (love and other human relationships), but not really, they never retire because they have children, those things that really make us settle down, full of power – love, mission? These characters don’t experience that, and I don’t think that’s what the movie does.”
