James Cameron responded that the title of ‘Avatar’ used the system’s own font, ‘I thought it was a new font designed by the art team’

The film’s title font is Office’s own Papyrus, which is quite unrefined. 2018’s Saturday Night Live’ Ryan Gosling starred in a skit that spoofed the matter, and recently James Cameron finally responded to the matter.

James Cameron began by defending the font: “Imagine how much money this movie would have made at the box office if we didn’t use that damn font? I really didn’t know the font came with the system and thought the film art department or copyright company came up with it. Although it was considered a lazy choice, frankly, I like the font.”

James Cameron then joked, “Ryan Gosling needs to get out more than freaking out about our movie’s font. It’s time to get out of your basement, Ryan! Papyrus resonates with indigenous cultural issues in the public consciousness, and then it fits in perfectly with ‘Avatar’ so I won’t have trouble sleeping because of this font.”

It is worth mentioning that after 13 years, the sequel ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ did not use Papyrus, but a brand new font made specifically for it.

In addition, asked by ‘Empire’ magazine why the Pandora aliens are blue, James Cameron’s answer was surprising, “There are too many green aliens in the history of cinema, and Hulk is also green. Human skin tones, pinks and browns don’t work for aliens either, and SpongeBob SquarePants took the yellow away. Only blue and purple are left, and purple is my favorite color. I thought that purple should be used as one of the bioluminescent colors, so that only leaves blue.”
