Mads Mikkelsen reveals Johnny Depp may return to ‘Fantastic Beasts’ as Grindelwald!

Mads Mikkelsen, the actor who replaced Johnny Depp at the 28th Sarajevo Film Festival, talks about the possibility of Depp’s return in ‘Fantastic Beasts’ and says Depp’s version is unique.

Mads Mikkelsen was awarded the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award at the Sarajevo Film Festival in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the art of cinema.

The festival also talked about Mads Mikkelsen’s work ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore’, in which he replaced Johnny Depp as Grindelwald.

Mads Mikkelsen said outright that he had been very apprehensive about this, as well as Depp’s case with his ex-wife. He also hinted that Depp might return.

Mads Mikkelsen said, “Obviously things have changed now that Depp has won his lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber and he may return, and I’m a fan of his myself, and I think he’s an amazing actor and does a great job. His version is unique because of him and I can’t exactly replicate it, so in my version I had to build something that was mine and build a bridge between him and me. Of course, Depp’s fans are lovely and a bit ‘scary’ and I get a lot of criticism for that, and I don’t have much interaction with them, but I understand why they’re heartbroken.”

Previously due to Johnny Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard divorce and domestic violence lawsuit, Warner asked him to quit the ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ series, resigned to play Grindelwald, Depp then also in the ins that he agreed to quit.
