Recently, Will Smith starring in “Emancipation” released a trailer, the film will be released in Northern America theaters on December 2 this year, December 9 online Apple +.
Will Smith is likely to compete for Best Actor at the next Academy Awards for this film, despite being banned from the Oscars for ten years because of the slap incident.
However, a new poll of Academy voters shows that most people are refusing to vote for Smith as Best Actor at next year’s Oscars.
Of the 47 members who participated in the survey, 9 said they could vote for Smith, 4 said they would consider it, 11 said voting for him would get them into huge trouble, and 23 said they would never vote for him.
The rejection was quite clear: “Nominating Will Smith would be a slap in the face to the Academy.” “Even if this is the best performance since Marlon Brando’s Godfather, it won’t be voted for him.”
Many said that the movie was still some time away from release and that it was impossible not to take the slap incident into account when weighing the nominations. They also mentioned that if his performance was truly exceptional, they might vote for that reason.
One member added that Smith would have to do more to make up for the slap incident and make a more sincere apology before he would be considered for a vote.
