Marilyn Monroe’s biopic “Blonde” hit the Netflix platform not long ago, however, it was accompanied by controversy from netizens.
The movie is currently topping the netflix charts in several countries, yet some viewers have expressed criticism of the movie.
@amxndareviews says “This movie is offensive, even if it is a fictional story, and I have some concerns about this movie. The emotional detachment of Marilyn Monroe in the movie makes the movie seem very dark and realistic, which is exploitative of the character.”
Of course, some scenes of the film have been criticized, including some with scenes of abortion and assault.
Another user, @StephHerold, said, “I watched ‘Blonde’ on Netflix last night and it made me feel very uneasy. This movie is so anti-abortion and so sexist. It’s a movie I highly don’t recommend, don’t watch it! The whole movie is awful! Especially the abortion scenes.”
Of course there are users who say, “On a technical level, the film is perfect, with impeccable cinematography and soundtrack. The actors’ performances are also very unnerving. But when it comes to the script, the director tries to use exploitation to tell the story of an exploited actress. It’s ironic.”
