“Mobius” was well received after its release, and the Sony film’s low-budget production has seen a resurgence in the popularity of its star, Jared Leto.
Film critic Linktor said: “The budget for ‘Mobius’ is on the low side, and if the series does well at the box office, ‘Mobius’ might be able to become a ‘Joker’ work.
“In the cast of “Suicide Squad,” Leto played the role of “Joker,” which is the main reason why Leto is expected to bring in the box office.
In response to this topic, Linktor gave his own opinion-the outside world overestimated Leto’s appeal.
In the field of cosmic movies, what everyone recognizes is the character rather than the actor. Leto’s performance in “Justice League” was very successful, and his ability to shape the villain was recognized, but this does not mean that he has a box office appeal force.
Daniel Espinosa’s work is well-received, with “Mobius” grossing $5.7 million in previews, and with the film’s low budget, Sony clearly plans to “make a fortune” on it.
So in terms of the cast, Linktor believes that it is normal for Sony to hire some actors with high appeal. Why does the critic think Leto’s influence is overestimated?
When “Mobius” was still in the promotion period, Sony brought Leto out to talk about it. After all, he has successfully created villains in “Suicide Squad” and “Justice League” before, and now he has participated in Marvel’s films. While actors spanning DC and Marvel are not uncommon these days, these facts are selling points for the work.
So Linktor said that the outside world has overestimated Leto’s appeal, and there are preconditions for the formation of this kind of thing.
In terms of the cost of “Mobius”, Linktor pointed out that Sony is very strict, economical and even “stingy”. Although the film industry has not dared to spend a lot of money on film and television dramas during the period when theaters are gradually opening up, the low budget of the film seems to be a normal choice.
However, in the eyes of professionals, Sony, a big company, is still so economical, there are some problems.
If Sony shoots a work with unknown ratings and popularity, it is understandable for them to “snatch” in terms of investment. After all, no one dares to take risks at the box office now.
However, the “Mobius” series has a fixed audience, which many Marvel fans are eagerly waiting for, and with the popularity of Leto and the other leading actors themselves, Sony is obviously too conservative in terms of budget.
So Linktor believes that “Mobius” has a low budget.
Of course, low-cost works do not mean good quality. Especially in the era of fast food culture and “popcorn movies”, budget and ratings are not completely linked. A more typical work is the 19-year version of “Joker”.
Many people feel that “Mobius” and “Joker” have something in common – the two characters, described as villains, actually display positive social effects and attributes.
In the “Mobius” series, the protagonist spends his entire life actually searching for rare blood disease magic, which is obviously a positive start. If Sony wants to show the conflicting effects of both sides, it is obvious that large companies will need to make larger investments.
Therefore, the low budget of “Mobius” does not mean that this series will create the miracle of “Joker” three years ago, and the evaluation of the film on several platforms is not very good.
Looking at the overall ratings trends, “Mobius” at least makes a comeback at the box office, given the low investment in the series.
The author thinks that this kind of “contradictory hero” may become a key project launched by the DC or Marvel working group in the future. After all, there are many dramatic conflict points on these characters.

After all, the derivative series of “Spider-Man” itself has the attributes of high box office or high ratings. The previous “Doctor Strange” series proved this fact.
However, in Linktor’s view, Leto and Cumberbatch are still somewhat different, and the outside world began to discuss the characters created by the two together, which somewhat overestimated Leto’s influence on the Marvel movies.
Furthermore, “Morbius” itself may not have the continuity of “Doctor Strange”. The reason why “Doctor Strange” can make people so interesting is that its popularity tends to exceed that of the feature film, mainly because there are many mysteries in this work.
Obviously “Mobius” doesn’t have that much mystery, which is the main reason Linktor believes that the actor’s popularity is not fully linked to the work.
Therefore, the outside world has overestimated Leto’s appeal, and the film’s box office estimate is on the high side.
