The Mexican woman María Salud Ramírez Caballero, the prototype for the role of Mama Coco in ‘Coco’, has died at the age of 109, the cause of death has not yet been announced.
Not long ago, she celebrated her 108th birthday in her hometown of Santa Fe, Laguna, where she had lived for a century.
Roberto Monroy, Minister of Tourism for the Mexican state of Michoacán, confirmed Caballero’s death, saying she was highly respected in the region.
Disney/Pixar has not officially confirmed that Caballero was the prototype for the role of Grandma, while her family said a Pixar team visited the area, took many photos of her and lived with her for some time.
