In Town & Country magazine’s new cover story on Michelle Yeoh, director Quentin Tarantino says, “I’m a huge fan of hers (Michelle Yeoh), and she always has a light in her eyes.
“He also revealed that Michelle Yeoh’s portrayal in ‘Police Story 3: Super Cop’ was the inspiration for ‘Kill Bill’s’ female lead, “The Bride”, so why didn’t he cast Michelle Yeoh in ‘Kill Bill’?
In a report in Town & Country, Michelle Yeoh said she asked the same question: “I asked Quentin the same question, and he was smart enough to say, ‘Who would believe that Uma Thurman could beat you? ‘”
Michelle Yeoh also recalls how she was injured while filming ‘Ah Kam’ (1996) and at one point she thought she had injured her neck and was going to be paralyzed, so she wanted to quit acting.
Quentin visited Michelle Yeoh in the hospital when she was in Hong Kong for a screening of ‘Pulp Fiction’ and he persistently convinced her to give up, giving Michelle Yeoh a renewed motivation to act, “At that point I thought: maybe I’m not ready to I thought, “Maybe I’m not ready to give up.
