Hollywood actor Armie Hammer is said to be making a living as a vacation home salesman after being dumped by Hollywood due to a sex scandal and being completely broke. Today’s ‘Vanity Fair’ reports that when Armie Hammer was in the midst of an emotional trauma and ongoing substance abuse problem last year, it was Robert Downey Jr. who stepped in and guided Hammer toward recovery and paid for his rehab for six months.
Since December last year, Hammer has been living a low-key life in the Cayman Islands, trying to regain his health. US media TMZ revealed that Armie Hammer is making a living selling vacation homes in the Cayman Islands.
Hammer’s attorney said, “I can’t confirm or deny these reports because Armie himself has not responded. I just think it would be terrible for the media to shame him just because he’s working a regular job selling real estate.
On Friday, local time, Hammer has flown to Los Angeles with his ex-wife and two children. According to ‘Vanity Fair’, Hammer stayed at Downey’s home while in Los Angeles and attended a sober living meeting in Malibu.
Downey, in addition to providing Hammer with temporary housing, is offering him financial assistance until he gets back on his feet. Although Hammer has no current plans to return to Los Angeles permanently.
From the late 1990s to the early 2000s, Downey was sent to rehab or even arrested and served time for drug addiction until he starred in ‘Iron Man’ in 2008, and was partially restored to his citizenship rights, including the right to vote, by a pardon from the governor of California in 2015.
He therefore sympathizes with Armie Hammer’s plight, and perhaps hopes that he too will “return to his former self”.
