Jessica Gao, the lead writer of ‘She-Hulk’, revealed that Marvel Studios had been asking her to cut the female Hulk’s CGI scenes during production due to budget constraints.
Jessica said she consulted Kevin Feige about the budget before the shoot began and was given carte blanche to write whatever she wanted.
However, when production costs were determined, she was asked to reduce the CGI scenes almost once a week.
“Once it officially went into production, someone had to sit down and start counting the costs. I’ve been asked every week since then ‘Can you cut more of the female Hulk scenes? Can you do that?’ …… Even late in production, we were still cutting scenes of her.”
Jessica also mentioned that the special effects artists were tossed around even more. As we reported earlier, many special effects workers expressed strong dissatisfaction with Marvel’s “unrealistic deadlines, tremendous mental stress, and consistently unsatisfactory end results.
“It’s an impossible task, especially in such a tight timeframe.”
The plot of ‘She-Hulk’ tells the story of Bruce Banner’s cousin Jennifer Walters, who as a criminal lawyer received a blood transfusion from Banner after a serious injury and mutated into She-Hulk.
The show opens in Disney+ on August 18.
