“Sonic the Hedgehog 2”: Breaking box office records, but also has a dark history

Movies based on games seem to be gaining popularity lately, with “Uncharted” being a box office hit and last week’s “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” hitting records.

Just three days after its release, “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” topped Northern America’s box office last week with $71 million, surpassing its predecessor’s $58 million in its first week and breaking the U.S. first-week record for a game adaptation.

But in addition to the brilliant record, “Sonic the Hedgehog” also has an unspeakable dark history.

This classic IP image of the last century almost relied on trailers in the first two years to be shortlisted for the protagonist of the ugliest game-changing movie in history.

Most people’s impression of Sonic comes from Sega’s classic games. This blue hedgehog, who was born for more than 30 years, has always maintained a lively and sunny image.

But since the official announcement of the live-action film “Sonic the Hedgehog” in 2019 and the release of the first trailer, Sonic has experienced an image collapse.

In this trailer, the official gave Sonic a big image subversion, making netizens unable to stand it.

Except for the tone, you can’t find out where it has anything to do with Sonic. It’s like a monster that designers put together with realistic elements.

They are all live-action movies. Detective Pikachu, who was released at the same time as the Sonic trailer, has also been criticized. The yellow-skinned mouse who can speak dirty words has shattered many people’s fantasy.

But compared with Sonic, the live-action Pikachu has already been defeated in terms of appearance.

Whether it is gamers or passers-by spectators, it is unacceptable.

After more than half a year, the image of Sonic in the live-action movie has become familiar to us.

After the image remake, Sonic got rid of the infamy of the harlequin, and the movie not only exploded at the box office, but also received a 95% evaluation from the audience.

The actor who played the protagonist’s wife in the movie also posted a thank you to the fans for their persistence in allowing the official to modify the image of Sonic in the movie.

If it weren’t for them, Sonic would probably be a childhood nightmare for some people.

Although game adaptation movies have been falling out of bad movies, most of the audience’s requirements are very simple, and they can be watched normally while restoring some parts. Unfortunately, most of the game adaptation movies are self-adapted adaptations.
