After a long wait and various reliable and unreliable rumors, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” is finally released.
We all know that there are quite a few characters in “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, there are five villains, plus various supporting roles, such as Doctor Strange, Aunt May, Ned, MJ and so on.
It is quite difficult for these characters to have room to show in a movie.
But “Spider-Man: No Way Home” still did it, and based on the audience’s feedback, it did quite well.
In an interview with Discussing Film, the screenwriter Erik Sommers of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” shared how the screenwriting team did this.
“Be careful. Because you want to give everyone the treatment they deserve. As a fan, you will treat these people as those roles and have fun with them.”
“But in the end, this is a Spider-Man movie-you have to tell the story of Peter Parker, and everything must serve it.”
“So we made a lot of painful decisions, you know, we wanted to do this and that, and then we thought, ‘oh! It would be great if these two villains could do this!’”
“But these have to serve Peter’s story, and you have to keep everything going.”
“Of course, there are a lot of things we call ‘little babies’—the little moments and things you really like—but sometimes you have to let go.”
The screenwriter’s remarks may also mean that some of the filming has been deleted from the feature film of “Spider-Man: No Way Home”.
