According to IGN, David Harbour, who plays Sheriff Hopper in ‘Stranger Things’, revealed in an interview that he didn’t think the new sci-fi horror show would be a success after he finished filming ‘Stranger Things’ Season 1, and even thought Season 1 will be a “disaster”.
David Harbour explained, “I remember when we were shooting Season 1 in Atlanta, Netflix gave us a very low budget. Even my hairdresser at the time when we were shooting episode four again came up to me and said ‘this show isn’t going to work.'”
Harper added, “When Season 1 killed off, I thought crap, the show would be the first ever Netflix show without Season 2 and we thought no one would watch it and it would be a disaster.”
Despite the show’s low budget, ‘Stranger Things’ became an overnight sensation. season 1 debuted on Netflix in July 2016 and tapped into ’80s nostalgia in a way we’ve never seen before.
Six years on, ‘Stranger Things’ remains one of Netflix’s highlights, and even ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 recently became the first English-language series to be watched on Netflix for over one billion hours, with a staggering 1.4 billion hours watched to date.
