Swedish director Ruben Östlund’s work won the Cannes Film Festival’s biggest award “Best Film Palme d’Or” for the second time:
“The Square” in 2017
“Triangle of Sadness” in 2022
This is the second time that Ruben Östlund has won the Palme d’Or in Cannes. He talked about his feelings at the press conference and said with a smile: People say that the first Palme d’Or may be an accident, but the second time I won the Palme d’Or, wow…!
“Everything was fresh when I won the first time, this time with my team, I will be very happy with whatever awards I get, especially after the new crown epidemic. I just saw “Close” director Lukas Dhont, It’s great to see the rise of a new generation of directors. I’m going to binge today, and then when I get home, I’ll change my 8-month-old son’s diaper, and then have a big sleep. Although the film is very entertaining, it I respect the audience and still maintain the seriousness of the film’s subject matter.”
He also revealed that some key episodes were cut from the Cannes version, so the final version will have to be reconsidered.
Ruben Östlund also revealed that he will continue to work in Europe in the future, but may seek some US investment.
The next work will be a story that takes place on a long-haul plane.
Ruben Östlund can be called the representative of Cannes in the field of geometry, Which geometry will win the prize next time?
