The ending of “Shang-Chi” repeats the question of Marvel movies, the meaningless plot created at high cost?

Even if “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” aside other controversies before the release, the movie itself has many problems.

For example, shoddy Chinese elements, house-style fighting postures, all kinds of inexplicable mountain and sea creatures, etc.

Even in the so-called classic bus fight scene, apart from the exaggerated movements and the so-called car skills, isn’t it just a gang fight? It’s really useless at all.

But it is said that “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” cost 200 million US dollars to build, I can’t figure out where the money is spent.

It does not have the vast scenes of “Avengers”, does not have high actor pay, and does not even have the cost of special effects like the production of Groot.

So think about the cost of “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” is estimated to be spent in the final battle.

But the biggest problem with Chacha was in the final battle. It shows that the Marvel Cinematic Universe did not learn from a specific problem.

Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” repeats a mistake that Marvel has already experienced.

This movie introduces the protagonist Shang-Chi into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, just like “Black Panther”, it takes an important step in the blockbuster Marvel series.

However, “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” also encountered the same problem at the end.

Several other movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been affected in the same way.

In “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” most of the time, the protagonists are Wenwu, Shang-Chi and Xialing.

The audience originally thought that the villain of the film was probably Wenwu.

But towards the end of the movie, the audience slowly realized that the real opponent of the protagonists was living in the dark, a soul-consuming Dweller-in-Darkness banned by the villagers of Ta Lo.

Ta Lo has always guarded these monsters to prevent it from destroying the world.

But soul-consuming seems to use a certain ability to borrow the will of Wenwu’s dead wife Ying Li to convince Wenwu that opening the dark gate will bring her beloved back to life.

The problem of the last battle of the movie is here. It is a CGI-made aerial combat.

Many movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have used this CGI production method to push the film to a climax.

The one that best illustrates this is the Battle of New York in the original Avengers.

There, the most powerful heroes on earth gathered for the first time to fend off the Chitauri invasion that Loki invited.

Even “Black Panther”, a movie that received 96% praise on Rotten Tomatoes, was criticized by many people for using excessive CGI technology in the final scene.

Similarly, Marvel Studios continued to use this mode in “Shang-Chi” to try to render the climax of the film, which just once again destroyed the entire film as the essence of the family plot.

The fight made by CGI seemed completely meaningless.

Shang-Chi and Wenwu’s father-son conflict occupies most of the movie, and the father-son conflict is actually beyond reproach.

Wenwu’s father who is stubborn for his lover has been widely acclaimed, and the mixed love and hatred with Shang-Chi is also in line with life.

The film is most prominent in describing the emotional plot of the complex relationship between father and son.

But after introducing soul-consuming creatures in the dark and dragons in the water, and shifting the focus of the film to the final CGI Sky Battle, although the film created a strong tonal contrast, it also lost the film. Best performance.

It’s not that the final battle is not exciting, but that at the expense of complicated family relationships and emotional creation, the film chooses to add dragons and monsters suddenly, which feels like two separate movies at once.

As mentioned earlier, many of the final scenes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are basically dazzling CGI battles.

These have created wonderful action scenes, and also created many amazing film and television classics.

One example is the epic battle of “Avengers 4: Endgame”, which even won the unanimous recognition of audiences in every country.

But obviously this is different from “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”. Those big CGI scenes almost passed the whole film’s foreshadowing, the plot is coherent and the central theme is built.

The grand scene of the final battle makes people feel that it is predictable, natural, and expectant.

Like the movie “The Avengers”, although the whole movie is successful, Chitauri’s appearance is just like these strange installations as a plot machine.

No matter how spectacular the huge space whales are flying in the sky of New York, they are forcibly added in, and then quickly defeated, entirely for special effects.

Like the soul-consuming of this movie, Wenwu was originally defined as the opposite of Shang-Chi in the movie.

But in the final battle, he was no longer the target of Shang-Chi’s attack, and was chosen by the movie to let him stand aside.

In the end, although the CGI battle has its interesting aspects, the forceful appearance of soul-consuming has taken away the better elements of the MCU.

It can be said that Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” is greatly compromised due to its formulaic ending.

In fact, this has always been a problem in the fourth stage of MCUde. For example, at the end of “Eternals”, the same problem was also committed.

Although there have been many criticisms in the past, Marvel movies did not learn from these final battles.

Hope that the future movies of MCU can change this status quo.
