The “Fast & Furious” film series, as its name implies, has sparked a lot of car racing enthusiasts’ frenzy, and some of the film’s location locations have become netflix hit spots.
According to media reports, a landmark old mansion in Los Angeles has turned into a Ghost Fire Teenger hitting mecca, with countless street racing enthusiasts making the pilgrimage to the Angelino Heights grocery store and drifting and burning tires in the vacant lot in front of the door.
The store was built in 1913, and the widow Ella J. McMillen paid $3,500 to build the storefront. In the film, the store is owned by the Vin Diesel .
The property changed hands several times before Bob and Keiko bought it in 1965 and named it “Bob’s Grocery Store”. According to the owners, drag racers would blow up the street every night and the noise would spread throughout the neighborhood.
Although the city set up stop stakes in front of the vacant lot, it had little effect. The drag racers drove through the streets in vehicles with modified exhausts, and some people went out to confront them and were even threatened with guns.
Universal Pictures also compensated her, and the owner of “Bob’s Grocery” said that Universal Pictures not only helped her repair her house, but also gave her and the neighborhood a noise allowance and a condolence payment.
The owner also said that making movies is a good thing and can promote local economic development, and as the owner of the location, she will take care of the feelings of the neighborhood.
Movies should not glorify street racing, and the city of Los Angeles should take responsibility for cracking down on street racing.
It is understood that local drag racing violations in Los Angeles rose 27 percent last year, and Angelino Heights residents believe the film company should hold off on filming the movie.
Residents of the area also said that although the studio didn’t expect the film to have such an impact in the first place, the company could afford to put more effort into it.
Universal Pictures had invited Sung Kang, the actor in the film, to appear in a public service announcement urging people to drive safely. But Angelino Heights residents think it’s not enough.
