After more than a decade of painstaking production, “Uncharted” is finally coming to theaters. The film tells the story of a treasure hunter named Nathan Drake.
However, such a well-crafted film turned into a mediocre film.
Because, early reviews of the film show that everyone is very disappointed with the film starring Tom Holland.
“Uncharted” first entered development in 2008, when Mark Wahlberg was Nathan Drake’s pick.
However, with the twists and turns of filmmaking, he grew older, and the protagonist of the film became Tom Holland.

And Mark Wahlberg, became Drake’s mentor Sullivan in the film.
In the movie, it’s a story about Drake searching for treasure.
So far, the film has a 44% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Because of the loyal fans of “Uncharted”, there should have been deeper expectations for this movie.
Instead, the film became a lifeless project. The only bright spot is the cast.
Even so, the audience was still unhappy.
The film critic of Polygon: wrote in the review: “The film version gives the impression that the writers were assigned different tasks when adapting: puzzle solving, stealth, parkour … fragmented story, let them It’s harder to introduce and switch between so many different characters. The film still lacks risk, real adventure, and interesting twists.”

Clearly, from the critic’s point of view, “Uncharted”‘s story itself has major problems.
Adapting the story of “Uncharted” is very difficult, I think.
That’s why this movie project has been in development for so long. Sadly, the whole story is still fragmented.
Another critic, Roger Ebert, wrote: “‘Uncharted’ seems to have preferred to draw on Nathan Drake’s adventures rather than create its own content. The film seems to make minimal effort in terms of storytelling.”
Like Polygon:’s critics, this critic was critical of the film’s story itself.
Naturally, the story is the crux of the movie, and “Uncharted” doesn’t take care of that.
Of course, while critics criticized the “Uncharted” story, they also commented on Tom Holland’s acting very objectively.
In Gizmodo’s review, he wrote: “Tom Holland’s Nathan Drake is charismatic. While the character in the script doesn’t have much depth in itself, Tom Holland’s charming, endearing demeanor makes the story interesting. Played by Wahlberg. The characters, even though the movie itself doesn’t make much progress, the interaction between them is very interesting.”
Suffice to say, judging by the overall review of “Uncharted”, critics didn’t say the film was terribly bad.
But they don’t have much to say about the story itself.
“Uncharted” is an action-adventure movie, but it doesn’t have any more breakthroughs in itself.
Judging by the critics’ reviews, they thought it was a normal adventure movie.
Happily, though, the film’s cast is pretty good.
As the critics say, they appreciate Tom Holland’s performance. Anyway, I think Tom Holland put a lot of effort into this movie.
Even if the movie itself is not as good as “Spider-Man 3”, his performance is still recognized.
