True crime limited series ‘A Friend of the Family’ releases pilot trailer, opens Oct. 6 on Peacock
‘A Friend of the Family’ stars Anna Paquin, Jake Lacy, Mckenna Grace, Colin Hanks and Analeigh Tipton and is based on the real-life exploits of the Broberg family.
The family’s daughter, Jan, was repeatedly kidnapped over a period of time by a charming, paranoid family friend.
The story follows Jan (Grace), the eldest daughter of Bob (Hanks) and Mary (Paquin), who lives a happy, traditional life in an idyllic American city. She trusts the family’s friend and neighbor, Robert (Lacy), even though the latter has plans to kidnap her, which Jan never suspects.
Robert slowly turns Jan against her family, tearing the family apart with despicable methods of corruption.
Nick Antosca (‘Teen Wolf’ ‘Hannibal’) is the writer and operator, and the real Jan and Mary Ann Broberg are involved in the production.
