To mark the 25th anniversary of ‘Heat’ (which was postponed for 2 years due to the epidemic), the old friends Al Pacino and Robert De Niro reunited for a Q&A session at the Tribeca Film Festival, according to Variety.
During the Q&A session, the two recalled their past collaboration.
When the duo was asked what they had done to prepare for their appearance in the film that year, Robert De Niro looked over at Pacino, shrugged, and humorously replied, “I robbed a few banks.
“When it comes to the most famous restaurant confrontation scene in the film, Robert De Niro said “we never rehearsed it”.
Al Pacino also said the scene worked because of Robert De Niro’s ability to listen: “I always say to people who ask me what it’s like to work with him, ‘You can do anything with Bob (Robert De Niro’s nickname).
‘No matter what you do, he hears, reacts and resonates. It’s a real luxury to be with someone like that. Because no matter what you do, he senses it. He’s always there, ready to go.”
Also, when asked who could play Lt. Vincent Hanna in the ‘Heat’ sequel, Pacino replied, “Timothée Chalamet, he’s a great actor with great looks.”
