After years of preparation, the animated film “Nimona” finally has a new arrangement.
It is reported that the streaming media giant Netflix has bought the copyright of the film, which will start in 2022. The film’s release date is set for 2023.
“Nimona” was originally the work of Blue Sky Studio, which was established in 2015.
Since the inception of the project, it has involved a huge amount of energy in the studio. Although it was constantly interrupted by various episodes in the middle, the Blue Sky Studio employees revealed that they were trying to bring something different to the audience.
However, with Disney announcing the closure of Blue Sky Studios, the production was also called off.
In the plan at the time, Patrick Osborne would direct the film, and the voice actors were Amanda Rabinowitz and others. However, all this failed to happen.
In Netflix’s plan, the film will be directed by Nick Bruno and Troy Quane, with voice actors Chloë Grace Moretz and Riz Ahmed.
“Nimona” is based on Noelle Stevenson’s comic book of the same name. The story takes place in the Middle Ages and combines fantasy and science fiction.
The protagonist, Nimona, is a young shapeshifter who follows a knight who turns into a mad scientist and is hunted by his mortal enemies.
Noelle Stevenson was an art student when she created the comic “Nimona”, which was originally serialized on the Internet and later published as a book and became a bestseller in “The New York Times”.
