Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain, who once starred in the sci-fi blockbuster “Interstellar” but missed the chance to play against each other, finally had the opportunity to “fight head-to-head” on the stage this time.
The two have confirmed that they will co-star in a psychological thriller, “Mothers’ Instinct,” whose U.S. distribution rights have been won by Neon Pictures, which previously released “Gisaengchung.”
“Mothers’ Instinct” is based on the novel “Derrière La Haine” by Belgian author Barbara Abel, set in the 1960s.
Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain will play a pair of neighbor friends in the film. The two originally lived a peaceful and beautiful life, with a successful husband and a son of the same age.
But this perfect harmony was shattered overnight by an accident, and a series of guilt, suspicion and delusions destroyed the friendship of the two sisters.
The original novel was remade into the Belgian film “Duelles” in 2018, and the director of the film, Olivier Masset-Depasse, will return to direct the “Mothers’ Instinct”.
The film is expected to officially start filming on May 25, and Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain also co-produced the film.
