“Australia” will be recut into a 6-part limited series ‘Faraway Downs’ for streaming

In 2008, Baz Luhrmann directed a film called ‘Australia’, which ran 165 minutes but did not highlight the full extent of the story.

A few days ago, it was revealed that Baz Luhrmann will recut it and name it ‘Faraway Downs’ as a six-episode limited series to be re-launched for streaming.

The film tells the story of an English noblewoman who travels thousands of miles to a distant land. When she arrives in this endless land, she finds that in addition to the challenges brought about by the unfamiliar environment, she must also work together with the local wild and unruly herdsmen “cowboys” to cross the northern Australian continent.

During this arduous journey, the two of them traveled together through half of Australia, enjoying the vastly different and magnificent landscapes, and meeting many of the inhabitants and local aborigines with great enthusiasm.

At the same time, they also began to feel the transformation of each other’s inner conflict, and an inexplicable and wonderful feeling couldn’t stop surging to their hearts.

After its release, the film received numerous positive reviews and was nominated for several awards at the following year’s Teen Choice Awards, Saturn Awards and Oscars.

The film is currently in production under Disney’s TV series division and it will be coming to Disney+ and HULU this winter.
