BARDO, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths’ was selected in the main competition of this year’s Venice International Film Festival and opens in Mexico on October 27th.

The protagonist of the story is a famous Mexican journalist and documentary filmmaker who, after many years, returns to his homeland to try to truly confront his identity, his family ties, his foolish personal memories, and the past and present state of Mexico.
‘Vanity Fair’ (40/100): Iñárritu puts a lot of thought into it, weighing the sins and graces of personal and public history, and trying to redeem. But as ‘BARDO, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths’ unfolds, the film gradually retracts into self-centeredness.
‘Variety’ (40/100): A monotonous and tedious viewing experience. It’s full of good stuff, but it’s three hours long and spends most of its time talking about itself.
