BBC and Paramount+ will produce a new series “The Gold” starring Hugh Bonneville, Jack Lowden, Dominic Cooper, Charlotte Spencer, Tom Cullen, Emun Elliott, Sean Harris, Ellora Torchia, Stefanie Martini.
“The Gold” is set against a major event in British criminal history, the Brink’s-Mat robbery.
The episode is set on November 26, 1983, when six armed men break into the secure Brink’s-Mat warehouse near London’s Heathrow Airport and stumble upon £26 million worth of gold bars.
The disposal of bullion has sparked a massive international money laundering campaign, providing dirty money that has helped fuel a property boom in London’s Docklands, united blue- and white-collar criminals, and sparked controversy and murder.
“The Gold” is written by Neil Forsyth (“Urban Myths”) and directed by Aneil Karia (“The Long Goodbye”) and Lawrence Gough (“Doctor Who” “Endeavour”), and it consists of six episodes.
